GemLife CEO says they won’t delay final decision on proposed $130 million land lease community at Cooroy, north of the Sunshine Coast

GemLife has announced it won’t delay a Council decision on its proposed $130 million land lease lifestyle village after choosing to defer the final debate in early March.

Advisors for the 246-home project, Innovative Planning Solutions, chose to defer the final debate after Council recommended it for refusal, wanting more time to ‘’communicate with the decision makers”.

However, GemLife CEO Adrian Puljich said the matter would finally be decided at the Noosa Shire Council’s March 18 ordinary meeting, The Sunshine Coast Daily reported.

A complete list from a February 25 Council meeting outlined 47 specific reasons why they recommended to refuse the application.

The development was recommended for refusal on the basis it would create a high-density residential development outside of the ‘urban growth boundary’ and would impact on good agricultural land.

The proposed development would also include an $8 million redevelopment of the Cooroy Golf Club, which is adjacent to the proposed site, along with membership for its residents.

A new golf clubhouse with a function room and a new carpark were all a part of the proposal.

GemLife currently operate 10 lifestyle communities across the country, plus 9 more under its partner brand Living Gems.
