Locals raise concerns around proposed 292-home land lease community in Harrington (NSW)

1 min read

As we reported here, property developer Bayline Homes and Developments lodged plans for a 292-home LLC for the Harrington site on the NSW Mid-North Coast (pictured, 15km north-east of Taree and 335km northeast of Sydney) last year.

Last week, around 40 locals attended a community meeting in relation to the proposed development, raising several points of concern around its construction.

Concerns included that it will be built on “bushfire prone land”, cause road damage, and that the area would be unable to cater for a sudden increased population and traffic volume – with one attendee saying he would take his concerns to the NSW Land and Environment Court.

The project had been approved in February 2019, but now the Joint Regional Planning Panel has deferred determination of the application to request more information from Bayline, effectively halting the development.

Bayline property development company  operates largely in the residential and commercial space, however the organisation does have one other small over-55s development – the eight-home Harrington Gardens.
