Four months after we reported that the Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club was shopping around the site, the Australian property group has snapped it up for a rumoured $30 million.
Mirvac plans to build 55 luxury retirement apartments designed by Altis Architects on the 1ha site, with Easts to retain ownership of the revamped bowling club which will include a new championship green and synthetic green.
The news comes after the local community successfully stopped another development on the site.
Will the community welcome the development however?
Two years ago, locals fought off plans to build a 90-unit retirement village and 76-place day care centre on the property, forcing the club to put the site back on the market.
Construction is expected to begin by mid-2021.
