Stage two expansion of Perth retirement village approved
- Expansion: Alchera Living secures Stage Two approval at Weeronga Village
- 41 new homes: Four-storey apartment building planned for Willagee
- Growth pathway: Approval follows council support for adjoining land
- Future vision: Additional development opportunities flagged for the site
More than 50 years after welcoming its first residents, a Perth retirement village has secured approval for the next stage of its redevelopment.
City of Melville Aged Persons’ Homes Trust, trading as Alchera Living, completed the first stage of its Weeronga Village, in Willagee, 12km south of Perth’s CBD, in 1975.
Weeronga Village comprises 84 one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas and a modern apartment complex. The Weekly SOURCE reported on 6 March this year that Alchera Living had been given council land adjoining the village, providing it was developed.
Now Gary Batt Associates Architects, acting for Alchera Living, has received the green light for its second stage by the City of Melville, with conditions, on 16 June.
Stage Two will consist of a four-storey apartment building with 41, two-bedroom, two-bathroom retirement apartments, 41 parking bays, and landscaping.

Alchera Living currently manages independent living homes across four retirement village communities in the City of Melville, including two rental villages.
In plans submitted to council, the organisation outlined potential future plans for the site in Willagee.
