Palm Lake Care achieves historic first
- Historic milestone: Palm Lake Care breaks ground on its first NSW aged care home
- 90-suite facility: New Forster home will offer residential, dementia and respite care
- Continuum of care: Co-located beside Palm Lake Resort Forster
- Family legacy: Expansion comes ahead of Palm Lake Group's 50th anniversary
Palm Lake Care CEO Daniel Aitchison has led a historic ‘turning of the first sod’ ceremony for the private family-run operator’s latest aged care home.
Palm Lake Care Forster, which will have 90 suites, is the first aged care home that the operator has built in NSW. There are seven aged care homes co-located with Palm Lake Resort’s land lease communities in Queensland.
Palm Lake Care Forster will be located next to Palm Lake Resort Forster on the Mid North Coast, which features nearly 400 Florida Keys-inspired homes priced from $1.179 million.
Daniel and his team were joined by local Federal MP Alison Penfold and local State MP Tanya Thompson to wield the ‘golden shovel’ at the ceremony which marked the start of the build.

Daniel said the suites will be “oversized” with private ensuites and open onto either the community’s large sunny central courtyard or lush green gardens.
Palm Lake Care Forster will provide residential, respite, dementia and palliative care services while also offering residents access to on-site facilities such as a movie theatre, gymnasium, hair salon, community café and private dining room.
Founded in 1977 by Walter Elliott and now led by his son Scott as Managing Director, Palm Lake Group will celebrate 50 years of developing and operating land lease and aged care communities along Australia’s East Coast next year.
