Video: Leading Conversations - retirement living’s care challenge
Retirement living operators are confronting a reality many villages were never designed for.
Residents are ageing in place longer, care needs are rising faster and the lines between independent living, home care and residential aged care are increasingly blurring.
Sector leaders met recently for a DCM Group Leading Conversations lunch in Melbourne presented by Lumin to discuss how operators are preparing for that shift – and the operational decisions the sector can no longer afford to delay.
The discussion featured:
- Professor The Hon Greg Hunt;
- Anne McCormack, CEO of mecwacare;
- Nathan Cockerill, CEO of Keyton;
- Michelle Bruggeman, COO of Levande;
- Bronwyn Perry, Executive Director, Strategic Communications & Silverchain Foundation at Silverchain Group; and
- Paul Wilson, Co-Founder and CEO of Lumin.
The discussion was facilitated by James Wiltshire, CEO of DCM Group, alongside DCM Group Founder and Executive Director Chris Baynes.
The aim of the session was to explore what retirement living will need to look like over the next decade as Australia’s population ages, workforce shortages intensify and residents increasingly expect to remain in their communities for longer.
