At a time when it is difficult to negotiate redevelopment of ageing retirement villages, Adelaide City Council has rejected NFP Helping Hand’s application to invest $4 million in its North Adelaide village.
The application was to demolish two buildings and build nine two-level apartments next door to its 155-bed aged care home.
Council objected on the grounds of open space, bulk, landscaping and traffic. It wants 50% open space compared to the 21% in Helping Hand’s application.
