Appeal lodged against Oak Tree Group’s retirement village development in Toowoomba

1 min read

A group of locals have lodged an appeal against a retirement village and townhouse development – six months after it was approved by Toowoomba Regional Council.

Village operator Oak Tree Group had received approval to construct the 51-unit retirement village and 43-unit townhouse development with local developer Barry Bernorth in Middle Ridge in southeast Toowoomba, opposite the historic Gabbinar Homestead which Mr Bernorth owns.

But residents are arguing the application does not comply with the Transport, Access and Park code in regards to the size of a “local access street”.

Concerns have also been raised about increased traffic.

The appeal has been lodged with the Planning and Environmental Court in Maroochydore with the matter is set to be heard on 12 December.
