Construction starts on $23M 2.66ha 160-Unit Camden Grove retirement village

Construction of the Camden Grove senior precinct, 68km southwest of the Sydney CBD, is underway with developers hoping to have the first building complete early 2021.

A consortium led by Paul Singer’s HT Retirement brought the 2.66ha John St site from Nicholas Playoust’s AEH Group 18 months ago, for a price believed to be in the region of $23 million.

The site has a colourful history.

It was once Camden High School which was somewhat controversially built over a decommissioned gasworks, which led to claims staff and students had fallen ill due to contamination.

The new precinct will consist of 15 buildings including 160 self-contained apartments, an aged care facility and a motel.

Interest is keen, with 65 per cent of the first release already ‘sold’.

Singer is one of the most successful village developers in NSW with his Mount Gilead Village selling 12-14 new homes a month – a consistent rate for the past three years.
