Former QLD hospital set to become $800M retirement and aged care precinct

1 min read

The old Gold Coast Hospital in Southport will be home to a huge $800M development after the Gold Coast City Council approved dividing the 3.4 hectare former State Government site into three titles.

The development will be carried out in three stages with the first stage to include a multi-level retirement village and healthcare services.

Brisbane-based developer Property Solutions also plans to build an aged care facility plus retail, residential and entertainment facilities on the other two sites.

The three blocks – 16,828sqm, 5276sqm and 10,522sqm – were secured by the property group, headed by Kevin Miller and David Blanck, in 2015 after their proposal was one of three short-listed from 80 interested groups.

However, it’s believed their offer was still less than the $70M the Government wanted for the site.
