Local council to review DA for 42-home North Queensland retirement village by new entrant

1 min read

Douglas Shire Council is currently reviewing an application for a retirement village on a 1.7ha parcel of land in Port Douglas, between the Oaks Resort and Reef Resort.

The application was lodged by Port Pacific Developments, owned by businessmen Jim Noli and Daniel Grey, and prepared by consultancy firm Brazier Motti.

Port Pacific Developments plans to construct 42 individual homes at the site. These will consist of a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, ranging from 200 to 350 square metres in size.

“The over 50 lifestyle living is very popular down south and we do see a real market for it in Port Douglas,” Mr Grey told Cairns Post.

“We think there is a need for this type of accommodation in the shire. A lot of people are after this type of lifestyle and the location of it couldn’t be better.”

The Council is expected to make a ruling before Christmas.
