Perth apartment sales to ‘downsizing’ owner-occupiers hit new record

1 min read

67% of second-quarter buyers were owner-occupiers, up from 65 per cent last quarter, according to the latest Urbis Apartment Essentials survey. Over-50s downsizers were the main source of sales.

In total, 339 apartments worth $214 million were sold in the second quarter.

Urbis director David Cresp said Perth buyers are “spoilt for choice” as apartments in new developments become available, but as the market improves, they expect these options to decrease.

Last year, 2,937 apartments were finished in Perth, but only about 1,400 are expected this year.

More competition – and higher prices – then.
